Sagrado Corazón de Jesús

The Mirador del Corazón de Jesús in the town of Artenárra on Gran Canaria is one of the most impressive places to visit, offering stunning panoramic views of the island. This lookout is located at the top of La Silla Mountain, offering spectacular views of the Tejeda Valley and the surrounding mountain scenery. The top of the Mirador is crowned by an 8.5 metre high statue of Jesus Christ, known as the Sagrado Corazon de Jesús, made of marble chips and stone. It was installed in 1996 and has become the symbol of Artenárra. The sculpture, created by local artist José Luis Marrero, welcomes visitors and, like Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, spreads its arms over the city.

The observation deck can be reached on foot via stairs, making it accessible to most tourists. The Mirador neighbourhood is ideal for hikers, and there are plenty of beautiful photographs to take, thanks to the unique natural and architectural features.
